What the number means & what it doesn’t. Score = single people who match your target gender+age
÷ single people of your gender in that same age range, ×100, per metro. Above 100 means available matches
outnumber your direct rivals; below 100 means your own gender floods the pool. “Single” = never-married
(ACS 2019–2023, table B12002) — it omits divorced/widowed daters and says nothing about orientation or who’s
actually looking. It assumes you compete with same-gender singles in your chosen age window ; it doesn’t model
age-gap crowding (older rivals chasing younger targets) or dating-app skew. Metros with a thin pool are down-weighted.
Bubbles sit at metro centroids on an Albers projection. This is a supply proxy, not destiny.
